After declaring an array in the main of my C program, a function that used to work all of sudden stopped working. The array that I had declared in the main overran the memory of the main and corrupted the memory of the next function. The program would run and crash and dbx and totalview would simply display bad memory address. Moving the approximately 700 MB array to the global space, solved the problem. I’m not sure if that was the best decision but it worked.
